Crystal & Rhinestone Care FAQ
Crystal & Rhinestone Care FAQ
Every crystal piece from Katie V is hand-embellished with care. To keep your rhinestones sparkling and securely in place, please follow the guidance below.
Can I machine wash my crystal or rhinestone piece?
No. Machine washing can loosen or dislodge rhinestones and damage the adhesive bond. Always spot clean only using a damp cloth or a gentle, damp sponge on soiled areas. Avoid submerging the garment in water.
How should I dry my piece?
Lay flat to dry. Never put a crystal or rhinestone piece in the dryer. Heat and tumbling can cause stones to loosen, crack, or fall off. After spot cleaning, reshape the garment and lay it on a clean, flat surface away from direct sunlight until fully dry.
Can I use heat on my crystal piece — iron, steamer, or dryer?
No heat, ever. Keep all heat sources away from rhinestones. This includes irons, steamers, and clothes dryers. High temperatures weaken the adhesive and can melt or discolor the stones. If your garment is wrinkled, hang it in a steamy bathroom to release wrinkles naturally — without directing steam directly onto the crystals.
How should I store my crystal pieces?
Store crystal garments flat or loosely folded in a cool, dry place. Avoid hanging them long-term, as this can stretch the fabric and stress the crystal placement. Keep pieces away from direct sunlight and humidity, which can degrade adhesive over time. If stacking, place a layer of tissue paper between pieces to protect the stones.
What if a crystal falls off?
Over time or with heavy wear, occasional stone loss can happen. Please contact us if you notice significant stone loss shortly after receiving your piece — we stand behind our work and want you to love it.
